Matted: Fruit Market, 1949
The corner of Yonge and The Esplanade, behind the future home of the O’Keefe Centre, is shown here on a clear day in October 1949 when it was the Toronto Wholesale Fruit Market. The building, once an impressive railway station, was a freight office after 1882, and leased by the CNR to the fruit wholesalers in 1900.
