What is available on this site?

Star Store is a unique online shopping destination curated by the Toronto Star, Canada's largest daily newspaper. Our distinctive product selection includes historic photos, fine art prints, sports memorabilia, personalized pages, and hundreds of compelling books chosen exclusively for the the Star reader. 

What types of payment do you accept?

We accept Visa, Visa Debit, MasterCard, and personal cheques. Unfortunately, we do not accept American Express at this time. 

I saw a particular product advertised in the Toronto Star, but I can't find it online. Can I still purchase it?

Although we try our best to keep a wide selection of stock, occasionally, we will only have limited quantities of certain items. Please contact us if you're having trouble finding a product. 

Do you offer gift certificates? 

Yes, we offer electronic gift certificates in a variety of denominations. Please click here for more information. 

How do I use my discount code? 

Discount codes can be applied at the checkout page once you've added items to your cart. Please note: discount codes cannot be combined. Only one is permitted per order. 

How do I change my order?

If you've made an error, or would like to change your order, please contact us. We will do our best to accommodate your request. 

Delivery

How long will it take to receive my order?  
Our orders typically require 2-3 weeks for delivery and are shipped via Canada Post. Rush delivery is available on a limited basis. Contact us to find out if your order qualifies for express shipping. Usually, an additional rush fee will apply. 

Where do you ship? How much is shipping? 

We ship to anywhere in Canada. Fees range from $3.35 to $6.25 per shipment depending on amount of purchase.  A $15.00 charge applies on orders mailed to the continental United States (excludes Alaska and Hawaii). 

Unfortunately, we do not accept orders shipped to destinations outside of Canada and the continental U.S. 

Can I track my order? 

We do not offer package tracking at this time. Please contact us if you would like to inquire about your order status. 

Refunds

What is your return policy?

You may return any of the following items to StarStore.ca, for any reason, for a full refund (we'll also refund the return shipping cost, if the return is a result of our error) within 30 days of delivery of your shipment:
  • Any book in its original condition
  • Any unopened (still in its plastic wrap) calendar.
  • Any matted print (still in its plastic wrap)
Please note we cannot accept the return of opened items or items returned more than 30 days past delivery. We can only process returns and refunds for items purchased at StarStore.ca. 

The following items are non-returnable and non-refundable:

  • Custom-ordered photos
  • Non-matted historic photos
  • Non-matted Raffi prints 
  • Digital files and photos 
  • Page reprints

We'll notify you of your refund via e-mail after we've received and processed the returned item. You can expect a refund in the same form of payment originally used for purchase within 7 to 14 business days after we receive your return.

Photographs

Why can't I buy a print of a sports event or a celebrity on your site?
Due to copyright and other rights restrictions, it is usually not possible for us to sell reprinted photos of professional sports or entertainment events for personal use. 
Why can't I find the photo I want?
We've put together a selection of our most popular images. But, if you've seen a photo in the Toronto Star or remember one from days gone by, please contact us. Please note: we can only sell photographs taken by Toronto Star staff (except for photos taken prior to 1949). You will not find any images from wire services (e.g. CP, AP, Reuters, Getty) or freelance photographers.
Why do all the photos say "Toronto Star" across the centre?
This is an electronic copyright watermark. Any photo you purchase or license will not have this watermark. 
A Toronto Star photographer took my picture but it was not published in The Star. Can I still purchase a copy?
Yes, if the picture was saved in our digital archive, we can usually offer the photo to you for sale. Please contact us and provide all the details about the image you are looking for. 
Can I purchase an image published in an older issue of the Toronto Star that is not on your website?
Images published before 2000 are typically not available. However, page reprints are available for purchase. Please tell us what you are looking for by filling out our page request form.
What is the photo quality?
Photo and page reproduction quality is based on the quality of the original microfilm, film negatives, and hard-copy photos, which can vary greatly due to age, faults, and age-related imperfections in the original substrates. While every effort is made to ensure a clean reproduction, photos and pages may contain slight imperfections such as scratches, dust specks, tears, etc.
Can I order a photo or page framed?
Yes, simply select one of the framing and mat options from the drop down price list for any print. 
Can I license a photo to add to my web site, or to use commercially?
